Manje / Eat

Over the past few months, we’ve been struggling to keep open our school’s canteen. It costs about $1 per meal, with approximately 200 students, and 300 canteens a year. This totals $60,000 a year. We’ve been reaching out to various organisations and groups. If you can connect us to anybody helpful, or would like to contribute to our canteen program, please contact us!

We want to thank our wonderful supporters all over the world. You help lift us up everyday, and keep us moving forward. We are always doing our best to help ourselves first, and appreciate the encouragement and friendship of all our supporters. Thanks for walking beside us all this time!

Nou Renmen Nou / We Love You

The start of a new school year is around the corner! We have been busily working on the school, and getting ready for another year of fun and challenges. A proper report is currently in the works — for now, here’s a video looking back on what we’ve experienced at CSCS and in Haiti this past year!

Kè n, Lavi n / Our hearts, Our lives

We hope you’re all having a wonderful summer! At CSCS, we’re having summer classes and finishing up the last of our exams. School will be starting again in September, and we are all preparing for it! May God bless this coming school year, and keep all of the students, teachers, partners, and staff focused on our mission and love.

For now, we’d like to share a video of our ongoing photography workshop with some of the students at the school! Thanks to Mr. Glenn Trudel, Natalie, and Julie for their wonderful guidance and support. Welcome to Cité Soleil, welcome to our home!

Bonjou zanmi’n !

Happy belated Easter to all our wonderful supporters and partners! Life in Haiti has been especially unstable these past few months, so we apologise for our lack of updates. Regardless, we are always hungry for education at CSCS, and the activities never stop!

Our dreams continue to grow, however we still face our daily challenges. Here are some things we have added or updated on our wishlist:

  1. We hope to move the one remaining house that exists inside the general footprint of the school. Required: $6,000 USD to take down that house and relocate the family.
  2. The temporary structure requires continual maintenance. Plywood doesn’t like rain, and tarps don’t like rain or sun. All gifts are appreciated!
  3. A laptop computer for our Principal Dorothy.

We have been able to update the site with new interviews and a report, and we hope you will send us any questions or comments you have over here!

* See interviews with Élange, Jonas, Pierre, and Ymma over at the Staff page! Links are found under their photos and names.

* Check out our report for January to April 2011. It also includes an administrative portion!

* And don’t forget to join our group on Facebook!

Lots of love from everyone at CSCS. Avek anpil amou.

LOVE FROM HAITI : BYENVINI NAN CSCS!

Education is paramount : literacy, social development, youth restoration, community awareness, hope and spirituality, and sustainability are key to empower Haiti.

Have you ever felt happy but still worried about those who remain sad and hopeless?

Have you ever been hungry or thirsty but didn’t know what to eat or had no opportunity to find food on your way?

Have you ever been in trouble from a forecasted hurricane and wondered if everyday would be the same?

Do you know that life is like a hurricane for some people daily? They struggle with almost no food, clean water, medical help, schools, or work.

Have you ever been lost in spirit, hoping to do something or make a difference, but instead ignore the problem or don’t know where to begin?

I know a place of laughter, love, friendship, and community.

Stop wondering. Join us — welcome to Haiti … welcome to Cité Soleil Community School !
